ARBORETUM OF BALAINE
The arboretum was created in 1804 by the daughter of the botanist Michel Adanson and has been maintained and enriched by the same family since this time. This collection of indigenous and exotic species covering more than 20 hectares, is the perfect example of an English-style XIX th century garden, surrounding a pleasant, luminous Bourbonnais-style castle.

There are more than 2 500 species and varieties of plants growing. In Mai and June there is a spectacular show of azaleas, rhododendrons, magnolias, bamboos and cornel trees followed in summer by the old-fashioned roses which provide a somptuous prelude to the exotic colours of the autumn foliage. Small monuments bring the parc's scenery to life: japonese bridges, cave, chapel, temple of love.
