Tripsdrill Theme Park, Cleebronn: Here on a 77-hectare site lies Tripsdrill – Germany’s first Theme Park. The Park came into being in 1929, when our grandfather built the first Old Women’s Mill. We – Helmut, Roland and Dieter Fischer – took over the management from our father Kurt Fischer in 1996. The Tripsdrill Theme Park celebrated its 80th anniversary last season and boasts over 100 attractions, catering to around 600,000 visitors every year. Tripsdrill also provides employment for a good 150 people. This naturally gives rise to one question: what is the key to success?

A family business – How does that work?
From our very youngest days we have lived in (and for) Tripsdrill. Our friends and classmates naturally envied us in our youth. Being able to spend every day in a theme park must be every child’s dream. But for the three of us, there was another side to the coin, because as the “junior bosses”, we had to work for the business from an early age. If the sails of the Old Women’s Mill were already turning as we returned from school, then the park was open for business, and we had to help. Roland behind the counter, Dieter with the horses and I – Helmut – on the attractions.

When the first Old Women’s Mill burnt down in 1946 after being struck by lightning, our father Kurt rebuilt this landmark, thereby laying the cornerstone for today’s theme park. Tripsdrill therefore grew up piece by piece. We followed in his footsteps in 1996, and have since been continuing the concept typical of Tripsdrill, with the accent on originality, authenticity and quality.
