JARDIN D'ACCLIMATATION HOW TO BE ZEN

Did you know that Paris and Seoul just celebrated 10 years of friendship? To mark this occasion, the South Koreans have offered the Jardin d'Acclimatation a Korean-style garden. After a year of work and 1.5 million euros of investment, the 5000 square meters of the Jardin de Seoul were inaugurated on March 25 in the heart of the 19 hectares of the park. But it was only since April 15, after certain security measures were put in place, that this new area for poetry and relaxation was open to the public.
If popular belief vaunts the virtues of serenity to be found in the "Country of the clear morning", Jean-Pierre Bardery, who is in charge of the Jardin d'Acclimatation cannot be said to have been calm throughout the construction of the project: "I was expecting lots of plants such as bonsai and bamboo...and so when they started building walls I began to wonder what was going on." For indeed, the Korean garden is first and foremost a mineral garden: walls, doors, parapets, and bridges...the result is breathtaking.

POETRY AND MEDITATION

Not far from the hustle and bustle of Neuilly and Porte Maillot, the Korean garden is a haven of peace and serenity. Less expensive than an opium pipe, more easily digestible than a book on Confucius, the Jardin de Seoul is organized as an initiatory journey: you enter through the Door of Paradise, you go by the decorated walls, you cross the Pool of Purification, the Terrace from where you see the Moon of the Traditional Pavilion.
The real feat accomplished by the Korean landscape architects was harmoniously integrating this beautiful example of a far eastern garden with the environment of the Jardin d'Acclimatation.
It is ideal if you are stressed or in short supply of Valium.
