A GIANT SQUID... A GIANT SQUID...

Fished deep out of the ocean bed in the Asturia's, a 'small' giant squid, hardly two years old but already 7.2 meters long and weighing 100 kg, is being displayed at the Sea Museum at Biarritz. An exceptional phenomenon, since these giant squid, living 400 to 1200 meters on the ocean bed of the Asturia's, in the Azures, in New Zealand, in Canada, are not very well known. They are solitary creatures, feeding off fish, cephalopods, and crustaceans. Their only predator is the sperm whale and others of their own kind. Their population size remains a mystery.
