Zoos were born thanks to the enthusiasm of the aristocracy, starting in the sixteenth century. Keeping wild animals was, at that time, a sign of luxury and unprecedented power. Since then, wild beasts have ended up in other places, such as princely menageries, and zoos have not only developed and multiplied, but have become more accessible. Over the centuries, zoos have greatly evolved, in their appearance as well as their purpose. |
